Enrollment

This page provides all the necessary information about the enrollment and re-enrollment process for students moving from 6th to 7th grade, for students moving from 5th to 6th grade who wish to change schools or legal guardians, students moving from 7th to 8th grade who wish to change schools or legal guardians, and students moving from 8th to 9th grade who wish to change schools or legal guardians, within the Manuel Teixeira Gomes School Group. Guidelines are available regarding deadlines, procedures to follow, and required documentation for each grade level.

The goal is to ensure that the process proceeds in a simple, organized manner and within the deadlines set by the Ministry of Education.

We recommend checking this page frequently during the enrollment period to stay informed of any updates or additional clarifications.

Enrollment for 2026–2027

These applications for enrollment/renewal are accepted from June 16 to 29.

All registrations made after this deadline are subject to a later placement process.

Please note thatenrollments are conducted in person by appointment, which must be made via email (matriculas@aemtg.pt) or by phone (282 450 410).

Local

All parents and guardians are hereby informed that the application for enrollment or enrollment renewal is submitted online via the Enrollment Portal (portaldasmatriculas.edu.gov.pt) using one of the following authentication methods:

  • Citizen Card, digital mobile key, or credentials for accessing the Finance Portal.

If the parent or guardian does not have internet access and is unable to comply with the above, they may visit in person the administrative offices of the school district in their area of residence.

At the Manuel Teixeira Gomes School Group, you must request an appointment in advance (subject to availability) by calling 282 450 410 or emailing matriculas@aemtg.pt starting on: June 8, 2026.

Responsibility

It is the parent or guardian’s responsibility to complete the enrollment process.

NOTE: On the enrollment application, the parent or guardian must indicate, in order of preference, at least 5 schools that the student wishes to attend. (Regulatory Order No. 2-B/2025)

The enrollment application should preferably be submitted online via the Enrollment Portal (portaldasmatriculas.edu.gov.pt), using one of the following authentication methods: citizen ID card, digital mobile key, or login credentials for the Finance Portal.

If the above requirements cannot be met, the enrollment application may be submitted in person at the administrative offices of the educational institution in the student’s area of residence, regardless of the student’s stated preferences regarding attendance.

Business Hours

The days and hours of operation for the school district’s administrative services are as follows:

  • Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

 

Enrollment is conducted in person by appointment, which must be made via email (matriculas@aemtg.pt) or by phone (282 450 410). You must present photocopies of all requested documents. Please note that without all the required documents, you will not be able to enroll, and photocopies are not made at the administrative offices.

Required Documents – Children/Students

  • Citizen Card;
  • Vaccination Certificate (issued by the health center);
  • 1 recent passport-style photo;
  • Updated family allowance statement for the year 2026 covering the last 3 months.

 

NOTE: Enrollment is only accepted in person with photocopies of all requested documents:

Required Documents – Legal Guardians

  • Citizen Card (for both parents);
  • Certificate of tax residence validated by the Tax Authority;
  • Household composition validated by the Tax Authority (applicable only to students who have siblings at the same school);
  • Declaration of parental authority in the case of divorced parents;
  • Document proving the delegation of parental authority to a third party (e.g., power of attorney from the parents, court decision, statement from an institution);
  • Address of the legal guardian’s place of employment, for the purpose of ranking (applicable only to legal guardians who provide their work address);

a) If you do not have a Citizen Card, you must present another form of identification in its place (e.g., passport or residence permit), along with your NIF (Tax Identification Number), NSNS (National Health Service User Number), and NESS (Social Security Number)
