In order to guarantee the quality of education and training and with the aim of continuous improvement in Vocational Education,
the Manuel Teixeira Gomes School Group decided to implement a quality assurance system in line with the EQAVET Framework.

O Que é o EQAVET?

The European Quality Assurance Reference Framework for Vocational Education and Training (EQAVET Framework), enshrined in the Recommendation of June 18, 2009 of the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers of the European Union, is designed to improve Vocational Education and Training (VET) in the European area by providing authorities and operators with common tools for quality management, promoting mutual trust, mobility of workers and trainees and lifelong learning.

EQAVET (European Quality Assurance Reference Framework for Vocational Education and Training), established by the Recommendation of the Parliament and of the Council of June 18, 2009 (replaced by the Council Recommendation of November 24, 2020 on vocational education and training for sustainable competitiveness, social justice and resilience), is the reference tool for promoting and monitoring the improvement of European VET systems.

The Importance of EQAVET
in the Grouping

The implementation of EQAVET in the cluster is essential to guarantee the quality and relevance of vocational training. This framework ensures that teaching programs are aligned with the needs of the labor market, promoting effective and evidence-based education.

With EQAVET, the cluster can constantly monitor and evaluate the quality of training, improving the transparency of qualifications and the recognition of acquired skills. It also fosters collaboration between schools, companies and other partners, better preparing students for professional challenges and increasing their employability.

Phases of the Quality Assurance System

The EQAVET quality cycle to be implemented involves four phases (Plan, Implement, Evaluate and Review), which are interrelated and must be tackled together.

1st Planning Phase
In which appropriate and measurable goals and objectives are defined
2nd Implementation Phase
Implementation phase: in which procedures are put in place to ensure that the defined goals and objectives are met;
3rd Evaluation Phase
Data is collected and processed to support an informed assessment of the expected results.
4th phase of the review
It aims to develop procedures to achieve results that have not yet been achieved and/or to set new objectives based on the evidence generated, in order to ensure that the necessary improvements are made.

Objectives of the alignment process
with the EQAVET Framework

Promote a culture of continuous quality assurance and improvement by VET operators based on self-evaluation practices

Ensure that the quality assurance and continuous improvement policy is linked to the strategic objectives of VET operators/institutions

Promoting the adoption of procedures and practices associated with the main components of the EQAVET Framework – four phases of the quality cycle, EQAVET quality criteria and their indicative descriptors

Collect data and systematically analyze the results of the activity carried out and reflect this exercise in the continuous improvement of VET management practices.

Obtain the EQAVET label which proves that the VET operator’s quality assurance system is in line with the European Framework
